Idea # 1|Recognize great information; share goods information
Did your customer win an award? Get their name in the paper since they generated new business? Even if you understood this was boiling down the pipe, send your customer a "job well done" email. Do you have a twitter account? Tweet the news. Do you have a LinkedIn account? Mention the news in your status update field.
Idea # 2|Verify they're useful
When I operated in the corporate globe, it drove me nuts to need to speak to vendors to ask them for the status of the project they were working with for me. Professionals are paid to establish expectations and manage assumptions. Your customers should not need to invest their important time guessing. Every Friday, I send my customers an extremely quick email describing the standing of their job. My subtle message is that they're important and their time is necessary.
Idea # 3|Be straightforward
For some of us, it's difficult to be "disagreeable." But, when customers employ us, they are searching for advice based upon our years of experience. If you disagree, the very best thing you can do for your customer is to give a different point of view and proof to sustain your point of view. In some cases it indicates you consent to differ and you do it their means, however occasionally wowing methods various viewpoints.
