According to the U.S. National Library of Medicine, approximately one in every three people are considered “highly susceptible” to bouts of motion sickness.
The primary cause of motion or car sickness is a disconnect between the senses and other parts of the body. Per the Mayo Clinic, you may start to feel sick when the bits of information relayed by your eyes, ears, and even your nerves to your brain vary from one another.
Once that happens, your stomach may start to turn and you may even feel the need to vomit soon.
There is some good news regarding car sickness though and it could significantly change the way that people travel in the future.
Technology Is Coming Up with a Solution for Car Sickness
The British automotive company Jaguar Land Rover has recently been doing plenty of work regarding car sickness. Specifically, the company has been looking at ways to reduce the effects that car sickness can have on people.
So far, the results of the company’s efforts have been very promising.
In an article published late last year, Jaguar Land Rover revealed that they have 15,000 miles worth of data related to motion sickness. After poring through and evaluating the data, they have come up with a wellness score.
This wellness score can then be used as a way of measuring the comfort level inside a vehicle, meaning it should be able to determine if someone will feel car sick riding in a specific vehicle under certain conditions. By taking a cue from the wellness score and making necessary adjustments to the driving system and the interior conditions of the vehicle, the company has stated that the impact of car sickness can be reduced by up to 60 percent.
Should People Suffering from Motion Sickness Prepare to Sell Their Used Cars?
If you frequently experience the effects of car sickness, there are some things you should know about this important work carried out by Jaguar Land Rover.
First off, yes, some of these car sickness solutions are already being implemented in a vehicle. Specifically, the Jaguar E-PACE comes with 26 car seat configurations that, when combined with adjustments to the interior conditions of the car, can prevent a spell of car sickness.
Still, the work is not yet completed. It may still take a bit of time before people will be from the worries of becoming car sick whenever they set foot inside one.
At the very least though, there’s hope that car sickness will soon be a problem people will no longer have to struggle with.
